The weather for the month of January:

January is pretty cold here so make sure to bring warm clothing and a coat. It's a nice time to visit because in Sicily the Christmas celebrations are still going on, like the Epiphany, when the "Befanna" an ugly old women brings treats to all the children. There many places to go visit, like "The Villa Piccolo"  an mansion turned into a museum, where there are tour guides that take you through.

The weather for the month of February:

In February the temperature is mild, we can have cold days and warm days, but you will not need a pair of shorts. Bring warm clothing, wool sweaters and a coat. During This month Mardi Gras or Carnival celebrations are going on. In the pastry shops you'll find "pignolata and chiacchere" two different deep-fried sweets made during Carnival. Capo d'Orlando puts on their annual parade and all can join in on the fun.

The weather for the month of March:

Spring is here so be sure to bring rain gear, it's the rainy season and can get chilly. Bring along warm clothing and an umbrella. In fact Sicilians say "marzo pazzo" (mad March), because the weather changes and varies easily. It's low tourist season here, but it's always a lovely time to visit Capo d'Orlando.
Museum Villa Piccolo,  "Aziende Agricole" (local farm restaurant) where you can taste genuine regional and local dishes, and near by towns are always fun to visit. Boutique's, night-clubs, pubs, and bars are always open.

The weather for the month of April:

April in Sicily is the Spring season. It can vary easily. You should most likely bring with you lighter clothing like, cotton pants, cotton sweaters, short and long sleeve shirts, raincoat, light jacket, umbrella, even shorts and a swimsuit could be used, because sometimes a very warm African breeze called Scirocco brings in high temperatures.
With Easter in this month taste a piece of "Colomba" a sweet bread with candy fruit inside and Topped with almonds and sugar icing or you can try out the almond marzipan pastries made in shapes of lambs or fruit.

The weather for the month of June:

June in our town is another great time to visit because it is still low tourist season, and for sure Summer is here. On the beach you will find mostly local people taking in the sun rays and a dip in the sea. Bring la_conchiglia.jpg (11908 byte)along summer gear and clothing, and for sure your swimsuit because you will want to cool off by taking a swim in the Tyrrhenian Sea. In the evening hours the temperature drops and you'll probably want a sweater on your shoulders.
This is the time of year you'll want to eat a Lemon "Granita" (lemon ice and also in other flavors) and "Brioche" (a soft sweet bread), a specialty of the locale pastry shops here in Sicily.

The weather for the month of July:

Summer in Sicily is lovely time of year the climate dry and hot, but luckily while taking the heat you can also take a swim in the sea, this is the best way to cool off.

Pack along swim gear and make sure to bring a snorkeling set so you can enjoy watching the sea life while swimming. You might also want to bring special evening wear for a night out at one of the numerous outdoor Disco Clubs. It can get chilly in the evening, so don't forget that cotton jacket.
If you don't try a " Gelato" or "Granita" it would be a sin, this is the second best way the locals cool off...

The weather for the month of August:

Hot, hot, hot but you can count on the chilly evenings to cool you down, here in Capo d'Orlando. On the 15th is a holiday and so make sure your on the beach to witness the procession of boats with St. Mary of Porto Salvo on one of them.

Pack along sandals, swimwear, and make sure to bring a snorkeling set so you can enjoy watching the sea life while swimming. You might also want to bring special evening wear for a night out at one of the numerous outdoor Disco Clubs.
The locals take their stroll down "Lungomare" (sea side road) while eating a "cono da passegio" (ice-cream in a cone)  every evening, it's almost a ritual here.

The weather for the month of September:

This is a wonderful time to come to Sicily, the temperature is just right and still warm enough to go to the beach to sunbath and swim. Pack clothing that is lighter but bring a sweater and jacket.
The harvest of grapes and wine making take place, if your lucky maybe you can find a local that will let you come and watch this procedure. You can also go to one the "Aziende Agricole" (local farm restaurant) in this area, where you can taste genuine regional and local dishes.
Don't forget to go to one of the basketball games to cheer and support "Orlandina"  Basketball team, you'll have lots of fun (www.orlandinabasket.it).

The weather for the month of October:

Fall is arriving and the temperatures cool down, the days are warm and the evenings are cool. The weather can vary, but rain is not likely. You will want to bring warmer type clothing like cotton sweaters, slacks, and jacket.
It is still harvest season and your likely to find locals making wine and conserves.
The best part of visiting Capo d'Orlando in October is that there is the festival of our Patron Saint "The Virgin Mary of Capo d' Orlando". The highlight is the procession that takes the Virgin Mary down from the mount and through the streets. The shopping stands and food booths run through the whole downtown, you'll need a pair of good walking shoes to hit them all. Also there are carnival rides, fun, games, and fireworks, all in honor St. Mary.

The weather for the month of November:

Fall is here and it's getting colder, but the sun shines almost daily of course we get those rainy days too. You should bring warm clothing wool sweater and slacks even a coat.
In November the harvest of olives takes place and it's fun to go visit a local "u trappitu" (olive oil mill factory) where you can see the process of olive crushing that becomes extra virgin olive oil. Mostly the locals that bring their own olives, harvested on their property and stay to watch to be sure that their olives become their oil.
Also the holidays; All Saints Day (November 1st) and  Commemoration of the Dead (November 2nd) are celebrated locally by letting children find treats and candy left during the night by the spirits of dead relatives. Local pastry shops make "Ossa de Morti" or "Bones of the Dead", are cookies that are made of sugar, flour and clover flavoring. Certainly it's the best time of year to try  "frutta martorana" almond marzipan shaped and colored like fruit, because it's made fresh for this holiday.

The weather for the month of  December:

The month of December is usually cold, but of course Sicily is known for it's sunny days as well. Bring warm clothing like wool slacks and sweaters, and a coat too.
Christmas in this month calls for many celebrations, and for shopping in the lovely shops here is Capo 'Orlando.
Sicilian Cannoli, "Cassata Siciliana" (tort made with ricotta cheese and almond paste) and "Panettone" (sweet bread with almonds and raisins) are your best bet when you go to the pastry shop.
