| In 1987, a short distance from San Gregorio, in the locality of Bagnoli, the first remains of a thermal structure belonging to a Roman villa of the 3-4 century A.D., appeared on the surface. The ruins, totally without high walls have a planimetrial configuration from which the apses of the "calidarium" and the "frigidarium", both places intended for bathing, are clearly seen. From the excavations traces of water systems, furnace and hot water pipes have emerged. The pavements of polychromatic mosaics are interesting. On the basis of wise exploratories, it’s not to be excluded that around the finding other traces of an ancient inhabitated center could be found. |

Nel 1987 affiorarono, a poca distanza da San Gregorio, in località Bagnoli i primi resti di un edificio termale, appartenente ad una villa Romana del III-IV sec. d.C. I resti, totalmente privi delle murature in elevazione hanno una configurazione planimetrica dalla quale si distingue il "calidarium" absidato ed il "frigidarium", luoghi destinati entrambi ai bagni. Dagli scavi sono emersi anche tracce di impianti idrici, una fornace e delle condutture per le acque calde. Interessante la pavimentazione in mosaici policromi. Non si esclude che intorno al ritrovamento, da saggi esplorativi, si trovino altre tracce di un vecchio centro abitato. |
